037: On dogs needs

My head is spinning.

All I know is:

Value based compliance theory

The "spirit" of the GDPR.

How micro-enterprises got screwed.

So instead of writing about what I've been doing all week (isn't it pretty obvious?) I will tell you about Pitzu and Maku.

Everyone says, and there are some studies on this too, to be in the moment. To treasure the present. And most importantly, don't play on the phone while you are with your kids. They need your attention after all.

They are probably right.

Pitzu and Maku would agree (they are dogs by the way).

Pitzu is all-on-go but, man, if he wants your attention. Meaning he is not busy running after the ball, chasing the lone fly through the house, or scanning the ground for any available crumb — no he wants your attention now. He may even want to get pet. If you are really lucky he wants lap time. But you'd better not be on the phone.

Don't even look at it.

Better off if you put it in a lock box somewhere.

And if you dare. I mean if you dare look something up, play a game (not that I have any), or even look up a photo of Pitzu as a puppy, he will growl. Not that aggressive growl. A cute, sweet, and maybe even adorable little growl while starting right into your eyes. One to remind you that now is his time and he doesn't want all that distracted time. He wants you—100%.

So this morning, as most morning, I spent 10' drinking my coffee (that is allowed and I hope there are no studies...) speaking with Pitzu while he looks at me all knowing and keeps tilting his head just right to make sure I know he understands.

Maku on the other hand is subtle. Subtle as a big dog can be. Hold your phone and she will stick her moist nose right under your elbow and launch it upwards. If she doesn't succeed the first time it's do-over until that little machine goes flying.

Readings

Currently Reading

I'm just finishing Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. It's the second time I'm reading it and must read for anyone who wants to write. Regardless of the writing you do. If it's just for you or if you aspire to get published. Do yourself the favour and read it. Other than a few good laughs you will learn a lot about well, writing, and life.

"You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better." - Anne Lamont

Best Privacy Related Read

Let me go dig through my endless Zotero list of files and see what stood out this week.

I has to be this book section by Timo Herold and Florentin Schlegel called "Value-Based Compliance: Integrating Integrity and Compliance Management"

Best Short Read

I've finally had a chance to start nibbling at the fall issue (Issue No 5) of NOĒMA and I can't truly pick one piece. Of course the piece by Maria Farrell and Robin Berjon "Rewilding the Internet" is a must read (I've read it more time than I can count). The Human & Technology section also has some really good reads.
